1. Why do you think Ancient Egyptian Pharaohs created monuments?

I think Ancient Egyptian Pharaohs created monuments to leave a mark on the world so that people could remember them, even after their time. For example King Tut, Tutankhamen did not build many monuments and was forgotten for a long time after his death. Then when Howard Carter discovered his tomb, in 1922, he became one of the most known pharaohs of Ancient Egypt. All this happened just because we found out about his tomb. I also think that Pharaohs build monuments to display their achievements. Like the pharaoh Hatsheput. Hatsheput built a great temple at Dayr ak-Bahri. The temple walls were decorated with scenes from Hasheput's reign; things like the amazing things that the traders had brought back to Egypt. These are the reasons why I think that the Pharaoh's of Ancient Egypt created Monuments.

2. What monuments in our society are similar? (be sure to provide explanations and graphics).

The two monuments that I picked were the Taj Mahal and the Twin Towers. I picked the Taj Mahal because it was also built as a home for a special person after their time. A man called Shah Jahan buried his wife at the current location of the Taj Mahal. She asked him to build her a Taj while she was dying, giving birth to their 14th child. He loved her very much and built the Taj Mahal in her honor. Just like the pharaohs of Ancient Egypt, he also wanted to build a place to honor his loved ones. I also picked the Twin Towers, they and the pyramids both represent their countries, they both became icons.

3. How did the using google docs as the main portal for collaboration help you with this assignment?

Google Docs helped A LOT because we could both edit the document anywhere. The advantage of Google Docs is that you can both edit and change the document at the same time. It gets saved by itself and you can see what your partner had done. It would be a lot harder to do the project with a program like Microsoft Word because you have to use a thumb drive and you can't both edit it at the same time. You also have to copy/past each other's work because it's doesn't save both your work; it only saves what you do on your document. This is why Google Docs was such a great help to our project.

4. What did you learn from this assignment?

I learned so much about King Tut. Before I only knew that he was an Ancient Egyptian Pharaoh. Now I know he was so much more than that. His tomb told us a lot about Ancient Egypt and about how they lived back then. I learned that he started ruling at a very young age and died at the age of 19! I've also learned that he was dedicated to the god Amun. He married and had children. He was the twelfth Pharao of the eighteenth dynasty. His real name is tutankhATEN but he changed it to tutankhAMUN to show his devotion to the god Amun. I went from knowing nothing about King Tut to knowing this.

5. What was challenging?

The challenging part was finishing the imovie on time. Me and Cienna had some trouble finishing and we had to come in at lunchtime to finish. We were a bit disorganized and waisted some of our time but we caught up in the end. It was also a bit challenging to divide the work evenly, with the iMovie. We didn't have a lot of challenges but we overcame all the obstacles, I think we did a great job.

6. Which schoolwide learning results were evident in this assignment?

Colloborating Constructively, hands down. Collaborating was key in this project. You couldn't do it all by yourself, you needed your partner. You both relied on each other. Doing it with a partner made it easier and more fun. The note taking and movie script went a lot faster than it would if I was doing it alone and Cienna was a great help. I'm really happy that Cienna was a partner it made the project fun and easier. Logic + Gestalt = Great Project
